Thursday, Dec 3, 7:30 Eastern – Join me the night before Hanukkah starts in learning to play a trio version for mountain dulcimer of "Ma'oz Tzur” (Rock of Ages), a traditional and timeless Hebrew hymn about the Maccabee's fight for freedom. It is a well-known Hanukkah song, which is sung after lighting the festival lights. The text is a liturgical poem composed in the 13th century around the time of the Crusades. It summarizes the challenges through history that the Jewish people have faced yet have overcome with God's help. The Hebrew lyric as well as the English translation is included on the tab.
