(7:30 EDT) This class takes your bass dulcimer skills beyond the alternating bass line pattern which fits with so much of the traditional dulcimer repertoire. Even though the alternating pattern is the foundational skill of all bass instrument players, man cannot live with just “boom,boom,” right? In this class, you’ll explore how to make the bass play “back up,” meaning in an accompaniment style while simultaneously adding bass lines. Participants will have additional bass line accompaniment patterns added to their vocabulary including walking bass lines and patterns that fit genres like blues, boogie woogie and rock ‘n roll.
The event will take place online using Zoom, the free video conferencing platform. You will need a computer, iPad or smartphone equipped with a camera and microphone in order to attend the class. After you register, you will receive an email the day before the class is to begin with the link to the class session. Simply click on that link a little before the appointed time to join the fun.
