Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. Eastern – “Kansas City: Standard & Bass Duet” – What better way to spend Leap Year Day than online with Larry & Elaine learning a new tune on your mountain dulcimer! “Kansas City” is one Lieber & Stoller’s most recorded songs – over 300 versions! In 1952, this Los Angeles-based duo were only 19 and had never even been to Kansas City, but they were a big fan of Big Joe Turner and wrote the song specifically for West Coast Blues artist, Little Willie Littlefield. (Say that name several times!)

The song has some challenging rhythms, so is therefore appropriate for the intermediate to upper intermediate player. The bass part utilizes a 1+ fret because you just can’t groove without it!
