Learn to play "You Raise Me Up" duet (with optional bass part)

Your living space!

Thursday, Jan 28, 7:30 EST – In 2003, David Foster decided to produce “You Raise Me Up” with the then up-and-coming singer, Josh Groban, which went #1 on the Billboard adult contemporary chart in 2004. That same year, Groban performed it at the Super Bowl and for Oprah Winfrey’s 50th birthday party. It is without a doubt his signature song and one of the most inspirational songs written in the past two decades.

The class will focus on the duet arrangement of the song (two standards) that is available on Sheet Music Plus (info below), but participants will have the option to also purchase the bass part making the song a trio. Know that there is also a solo version available on Larry’s Sheet Music Plus page, which was simplified to create the duet version. For those wishing to learn the bass part, they would simply remain on the Zoom call a little while longer. Participants will receive via email audio practice recordings that leave out one part to make practicing more fun and efficient. Due to copyright restrictions, participants must first purchase an authorized copy of the tab from our Sheet Music Plus page.

If you purchased it months ago, you should still have a copy of the receipt in your history on the Sheet Music Plus website. If that fails, you can take a picture of the tab which should clearly show your name printed at the bottom as the legal purchaser of the music.

No, I cannot sell you the tab directly without breaking the copyright law and our contract agreement with Sheet Music Plus who licenses the song and distributes the royalty fees to the composers and publishers. We as arrangers only receive a 10% commission of your purchase price.

The event will take place online using Zoom, the free video conferencing platform. You will need a computer, iPad or smartphone equipped with a camera and microphone to attend the class. After you register, your email receipt will contain the Zoom link for the class. Simply click on that link a little before the appointed time to join the fun!
