Thursday, July 15, 2021, 7:30 EDT – “Puff the Magic Dragon” is a classic Peter, Paul and Mary recording which was released in 1963. Peter Yarrow wrote the song which was based on a 1959 poem by Leonard Lipton. A 1964 Newsweek article speculated that the song was about drug use, but Yarrow consistently denied that claim insisting that the lyric was about growing older. He frequently dismissed the claims by calling it “sloppy research.”

The Zoom class will focus on the solo arrangement of the song but will also include an optional bass part making the result a duet. Both parts are suitable for the intermediate level dulcimer player, and both will require a 1+ fret.
