Learn to play "Edelweiss" -- solo and bass part

Your living space!

Thursday, Mar 4, 7:30 EST – Contrary to popular belief, the song “Edelweiss” is not a folk song, a Nazi song, or the Austrian National Anthem, but rather a show tune from the 1959 musical “The Sound of Music” by the great duo, Rodgers and Hammerstein. It is named after a white flower found high in the Alps. Sadly, "Edelweiss" is the last song Rodgers and Hammerstein wrote together; Hammerstein died of stomach cancer 9 months after The Sound of Music opened on Broadway. Although we saw the late Christopher Plummer singing it in the film, his voice, much to Plummer’s dismay and surprise after the film debuted, was overdubbed with the voice of Bill Lee.

The class will focus on the solo arrangement as well as the bass part making the song a duet. For those wishing to learn only the bass part, you would register via this link: https://elaineconger.com/event/4211857/553625991/bass-part-to-edelweiss

Participants will receive via email audio practice recordings that leave out one part to make practicing more fun and efficient.

Due to copyright restrictions, participants must first purchase an authorized copy of the tab(s) from Sheet Music Plus :
