Learn to Play "Here I Am, Lord"

Your living space!

Thursday, Oct 22, 7:30 EDT – Join me in learning a solo mountain dulcimer arrangement of “Here I Am, Lord,” a Christian hymn written by Daniel Schutte, a composer of Catholic liturgical music. The text is based on the biblical passages Isaiah 6:8 and 1 Samuel 3. The original intent of the composition was for the ordination mass of a dean of the University of Berkeley. The song is now sung in many Protestant worship services as well. In 2019, it was voted the United Kingdom’s 10th favorite hymn.

The arrangement is in the key of G and will require a 1.5 fret. It is appropriate for the upper intermediate level player who is familiar with the chord-melody style of playing and is comfortable playing in an arpeggiated fashion across the fretboard. Participants in the class will also receive an audio recording as well as an accompaniment track.
